Since our launch at the Molesey Centre in June 2016, Silver get-togethers have been blazing a shining trail.
Opened by the Mayor of Elmbridge, our June event welcomed many members of the local community who joined us to celebrate the Queen’s 90th birthday. Members of the Molesey Historical Society fascinated us with a talk on the history of the local area.
In July, we celebrated summer with Margaret Arnott from the National Gardens Scheme who held a talk on the history of the NGS, and opened our eyes to the local gardens we can visit. With box frames to decorate and cards to make and take home, everyone had a wonderful time.
From September, Silver get-togethers will be held at the new location of the Village Hall, Whiteley Village, Walton on Thames. We would like to thank all those from the Molesey community who supported us in our first few months, and we look forward to building on that success.
Whiteley Village is a purpose built retirement village in Surrey for older people of limited financial means. The village boasts a large range of amenities, however Silver wants to help those who may find themselves more socially isolated, either through the loss of a partner or loneliness. Silver is working with the in-situ support team present at Whiteley Village and will continue to host get-togethers to assist people to feel more involved in the local community.
